Town wrapped up the league with this emphatic performance away to Isleham. Only needing a draw to clinch the title, Town went after the opposition from the first whistle and they got their reward inside the first five minutes when Charles Dacosta crossed a lovely ball from the right for Tom Shiels to volley in to the goal. Shiels then turned provider to set up Alex Prigg who finished off with a clinical strike to make it two nil. Isleham then got their heads up when Town failed to clear a free kick and Isleham netted to make it two one just before the break.
Town regained the advantage within a minute of the second half when the ball was crossed in from the left and Alex Marshall headed home, Marshall then completed the scoring when Aidan Hall put him through and with just the keeper to beat Marshall picked his spot and put the result beyond doubt and so at the final whistle the celebrations could begin. After some tireless work down the right hand side Charles Dacosta was named man of the match.

Newmarket put one hand on the league championship with this hard working performance, with just one game left away to Isleham this coming Sunday, Town have nearly won their league. They are three points clear at the top and they have a goal difference of plus eleven over second placed Cambridge Musketeers, and this was probably as important a game as they could have had towards winning the title.
Having not had a game for nearly a month there was always a danger that Town were going to start slow and get caught out but instead they started brightly and applied the early pressure and half way through the first half they got their reward when Alex Marshall flighted a lovely corner for Tom Porter to meet perfectly to head home. Town continued to press forward but could not get the all important second second goal before the break.
After half time Town continued their good work from the first half and applied pressure on the home team and it was only the Cottenham keeper that kept them in the match. Eventually Town played one of their typical passing moves down the right and the ball was crossed for Aidan Hall to head home beautifully. With the Town defence as solid as ever there was going to be no way Cottenham could come back from there and that was the case.
Man of the match was Tom Porter.

Title chasing Town made hard work of the first half, having not played last week Town started off slowly and a spirited Litte Downham were pressing the league leaders for most of the half. Even when Town scored when Charles Dacosta played a superb cross that Alex Buxton skillfully placed past Little Downhams keeper, the visitors continued to try and take the game to Town and in the end Town were quite lucky to go into the break with a one goal lead.
With Town changing their formation for the second half it was a very different story when early on the visiting keeper failed to hold on to an Alex Marshall shot it opened the flood gates. Next on the score sheet was Alex Prigg when he connected superbly with another fine cross by Charles Dacosta to hit the goal of the game. Alex Marshall got the next two by using his pace and strength to go past the visiting defence and fire home two well taken goals Alex Marshall was involved in the next goal as well, as it was his corner that Dale May headed powerfully into the back of the net. Then another fine cross by Charles Dacosta was this time met by Kyle Marshall who turned the ball past the Downham keeper to make it seven and finally Aidan Hall rounded off the scoring when he out muscled the Downham centre back and slotted the ball past the diving keeper. For the second match in a row Tom Porter was named man of the match |

Newmarket had a good win against a Wimblington team that came to play football, in a very close first half Town opened the scoring when the Wimblington defence made hard work of trying to clear an Alex Marshall cross and somehow in the confusion the ball went into the back of the net. Aidan Hall was next on the scoresheet when the ball broke to him from an Alex Marshall corner he took his chance with a nice right foot finish. Wimblington continued to push at Town and only a fine save by Tom Howell prevented them from only being one goal down at the break.
Town were caught cold at the start of the second half and Wimblington broke from the restart and made it two one, but with the wind behind them and getting stronger all the time Town then got into their stride, Charles Dacosta played a super through ball for Aidan Hall to run onto and fire home his second of the match, then Alex Marshall got his second when he left his marker in his wake and fired home. With Wimblingtons heads starting to drop Alex Prigg got in on the act when he scored a quickfire hat-trick all three of his goals came about after some good solo work. Kyle Marshall completed the scoring when he headed home another Alex Marshall corner. Tom Porter was named man of the match for the way he won every ball that came his way in the midfield

Newmarket travelled to last placed Little Downham and even though they scored seven this was not the convincing win it should have been, Town were just not sharp enough in front of the Downham goal. Towns first goal came when Aidan Hall was felled in the Downham box and Dan Nightingale blasted home the penalty. Aidan Hall then picked up his first goal when he left the Downham keeper with no chance as he put a precision shot into the back of the net. For some reason Town then switched off and Downham scored with a nice long range shot that Alex Buxton just failed to stop. Alex Marshall was next on the score sheet when he used his pace to leave everybody behind and beat the keeper to make it three one with some strange timekeeping the first half was then cut short before Town could score again.
In the second half it was pretty much of the same Town would play some good football to get the ball down the flanks but not finish enough of their chances. Downham only got one chance early in the half and converted it to make it four two. Finally Town started to play a bit and Alex Prigg scored twice and man of the match Aidan hall scored twice to complete his hat-trick. If Town wish to win this league though they are going to have to play better in their remaining games.

With most of their squad now fit again this physical game was just what Town needed. Although with the strong wind this was never going to be about attractive football, more about grinding out a win and that was just what Town did, with centre backs Charlie Whitton and Dale May closing out any Hardwick attack.Towns main problem was trying to break down the resilient Hardwick defence.
The breakthrough came at the start of the second half when Kyle Marshall hit a peach of a shot from just outside the area that left the Hardwick keeper with no chance. After that it went back to being an end to end battle for most of the second half until five minutes from the end, when after some good work from Aidan Hall the ball became loose in the Hardwick box and Charles Decosta bravely slid in and slotted the ball past the Hardwick keeper to make the points safe.
The man of the match was Dale May. |

The league leaders had a difficult task this week with over half the squad suffering with a cold virus and having to go away to second in the league Musketeers, with the fa refusing to postpone the match Town somehow managed to field eleven players but as half of those had been off school during the week it was never going to be a vintage performance, and so it proved as Musketeers took full advantage of the situation and raced into a four nil lead. Alex Marshall started the fightback when he ran onto a through ball to power the ball home to make it four one at the break.
Inspired by this Town came out strong in the second half and made it four two when Dan Nightingale got on the end of an Alex Marshall free kick and blasted it past the home keeper,Tom Shiels made it three when he latched onto a loose ball from a corner and picked his spot beautifully. Even though town were now the better side they just could not find the elusive fourth goal and in the dying moments with Town trying to get level the home side scored again when they lobbed Tom Howell in the town goal.

League leaders Town maintained their charge towards winning their league with their eleventh win out of eleven matches. Aidan Hall opened the scoring for Town then Kyle Marshall latched on to a good cross from Charles De costa to make it two nil, Alex Prigg made it three when he rounded of a solo run with a lovely shot. With Town using the width of the pitch to good effect Alex Marshall hit a lovely ball across the goal for Charles De costa to finish off with a superb shot.
At the start of the second half Town got caught cold and Over managed to pull one back but after that it was all Town and Kyle Marshall, Charles De costa, Alex Prigg and man of the match Aidan Hall all managed to pick up their second goal of the game, the unluckiest player for Town was Sam Frost who seemed to be involved in everything but could not find the back of the net himself, Town finished off the scoring when Alex Marshall fired in the shot of the match from out wide right that left the keeper with no chance

The wind and rain made it difficult for Town to play their usual passing football but they still managed to play well enough to see off Isleham and maintain their six point lead at the top of the table. Aidan Hall opened the scoring for Town with a well taken shot beating the diving Isleham keeper, Tom Porter was next on the scoresheet when he headed home from a Town corner.
When Town came out after the break they had the wind behind them but even though they were getting the ball in behind the visitors they failed to convert some good chances, Sam Frost got Towns third when after a solo run, he hit a smashing shot from the edge of the visitors area that left the Isleham keeper with no chance., Alex Prigg completed the Town scoring with a lovely long range drive that once again left the Isleham keeper with no chance.
Town captain Charlie Whitton was named man of the match |

Table topping Ttown once again got maximum points but were pushed all the way by a very resilient Wimblington, in fact it was the home team that took the lead first before Alex Priggs well struck effort levelled the score, then Kyle Marshall finished of a good solo run with another well taken goal but then a battling Wimblington scored again to make it level at the break.
In the second half Town continued to struggle with the pitch but never the less they retook the lead when Alex Marshall got on the end of a good cross to head the ball in the back of the Wimblington net. Alex Prigg then scored a superb goal from distance with a great strike. but once more the home team battled back to make it four three. Alex Marshall was back on the score sheet when he ran onto a well weighted through ball to restore Towns two goal lead and Alex Prigg then completed his hattrick to finally end the home resistance. Alex Buxton was voted man of the match |

Once again it was a game of two halves as league leaders Newmarket played host to Over, the opening exchanges belonged to Town and they took an early lead when man of the match Tom Porter broke through to open the scoring. With the wind behind them a resilient over team managed to break through Towns defence to level the scores, Town restored their lead when Alex Priggs shot was deflected into the goal by an over defender, Aidan Hall made it three one when he found himself in space and and kept his head to beat the keeper with a low well struck shot.
After the break and with the wind now behind them Town looked a different team Kyle Marshall made it four for Town before Over managed to catch town on the break to make it four two .This galvanised the Town team who went on the attack with another two goals from Porter one from Sam Frost two from Alex Marshall another two from Aidan Hall one from Alex Prigg and two from Daniel Nightingale |

This week Town travelled to Sawston and even though the home team put up a resilient defence in the end it was business as usual as the league leaders completed a comfortable victory. In the first half Town had most of the possession but just could not unlock the offside trap, in the end it was a lovely through ball from Tom Porter that Alex Prigg ran onto and tucked away into the back of the net.
After the half time break Town upped their game and even though they were now beating the offside trap they could not finish it off. Porter was again provider for the second goal when he set Alex Marshall free in space,Marshall ran onto the through ball rounded the advancing keeper and stroked the ball home. The third came when during a goalmouth scramble the ball fell to Aidan Hall who hit the ball first time to leave the Sawston keeper with no chance, Hall got his second when he bravely ran onto a loose ball in the Sawston area and knocked the ball into the net. The whole of the Town team performed well especially stand in keeper Alex Buxton who made some outstanding saves but it was centre half Dale May who won every ball that came his way and was deservedly man of the match. |

Newmarket progressed to the quarter final of the knockout cup with another solid performance. The first twenty minutes was pretty much even, then Alex Marshall struck a fantastic shot from the edge of the box to give Town the lead, the Town defence was as usual winning every ball that came their way and captain Charlie Whitton led by example with a man of the match performance. Alex Marshall who was given too much room by Cottenham bagged a goal either side of the break.
With all the Town team playing well it was only a matter of time before town scored again and this time it was the turn of Alex Prigg to take a typical strikers goal to make it four nil. It was a game of contrast for the goalkeepers, because while the overworked Cottenham keeper was probably their best player Tom Howell had relatively little to do in the Town goal. In the dying moments of the game Dale May who had another superb game in defence went up for a Town corner and somehow amongst a load of bodies managed to poke the ball into the back of the net to round of a satisfying day for the team.

Before this game Musketeers led this league by goal difference, after the match Newmarket are three points clear at the top with a game in hand. This was most definitely a game of two halves,in the first half Town were attacking into the wind and although Town took the lead from a lovely taken goal by Tom Porter, Musketeers were really stretching the Town defence and with a quick break down their right they levelled the score. The rest of the half could have gone either way, but putting in a man of the match performance in goal Tom Howell made some fantastic saves to deny the Musketeers attack and at the break it was still one apiece.
The second half was a different story now with the wind behind them Town got into their stride. Quite early in the half Aidan Hall grabbed a quick brace of goals and Musketeers heads dropped. With Tom Shiels nipping into score the fourth goal Town now started to really flow with quick neat passing moves and good understanding of their teammates they were opening up the opposition. Alex Marshall was next on the score sheet with a brace of goals then Alex Prigg found away through to make it seven, Kyle Marshall completed the rout and only some fine saves by the
Musketeers keeper denied Town an even bigger winning margin.

Newmarket maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive away win to third in the league Aztecs. The first half was a bit scrappy with both sides testing the keepers mainly from long range, but with about 25 minutes gone Aidan Hall pounced on a loose ball and slotted the ball past the Aztecs diving keeper. For the remainder of the half Aztecs went on the offensive but good teamwork by the town defence kept them at bay.
In the second half town changed their shape and went to just a lone striker and this made all the difference, now with five in the midfield Town were running the game and it wasn`t long before man of the match Aidan Hall was through on goal and once more found the back of the net. Town continued to create chances and with stand in left back Tom Shiels having an excellent game bringing the ball down the left channel it was only going to be a matter of time before Town scored again. Tom Shiels played a terrific ball across the box to pick out an unmarked Alex Marshall who doesn`t miss those sort of chances and he coolly picked his spot to make it three nil. Next it was Sam Frost who chased a ball that looked to belong to the keeper and bravely slid in to make it four. With the game all but won Town made the mistake of easing of and Aztecs pulled back two late consolation goals but any chances Aztecs created after that were soon stamped out by the impressive Town defence. |

Newmarket continued their unbeaten run in a very physical game away to Hardwick. In the opening exchanges neither keeper was troubled to much as both defences worked hard to keep each other at bay. Although Town made there customary slow start to the game they were still the team that looked like creating an opening and as the half wore on it was flying winger Alex Marshall who opened the scoring running at the defence and unleashing a fierce drive into the back of the Hardwick net.
The second half was much of the same strong physical challenges going in by both teams but this was more to Towns advantage as the Town defence relished this type of football and with Kyle Marshall at left back and man of the match Dan Nightingale at right back they were bringing the ball out up the wings to launch the Town attacks. It was through one of these attacks that Aex Prigg got hold of the ball on the edge of the box and hit a terrific right foot shot that was just to powerful for the Hardwick keeper to hold on to. Late on in the second half after a fine cross by Alex Marshall and then some good footwork by Alex Prigg to get the ball back into the goalmouth Sam Frost nipped into net the third goal and secure the points for town.

In the knockout cup this week town faced the difficult task of travelling to Ely who play their football in the league above Town. At the start of this entertaining match play was pretty much end to end with Town just edging the possession but not quite managing to make inroads into the Ely area. Half way through the first half against the run of play Ely broke away and took the lead, this seemed to kick start town and through Alex Prigg they soon equalised, buoyed by that goal Town were soon attacking again and Alex Prigg having his best game of the season soon made it two. Instead of resting on their laurels Town continued to surge forward and Kyle Marshall capped of a great run with a cool finish to take Newmarket into the break three one up.
In the second half it was much the same every time Ely got the ball a Town player was on it disspossessing them, this was a great team performance by Town and especially man of the match Nick Taylor who in the holding midfield role seemed to win everything. Midway through the half and Sam Frost ran onto a lovely through ball and took the ball out right before playing a super cross that Alex Marshall ran onto to put skilfully away and round off the move of the match. Ely continued to battle and managed to find away through Towns tight defence to make it four two. Any hopes Ely had of getting back in this tie were soon shattered when Alex Marshall smashed in another great goal to restore Towns lead to three. Ely tried to get back at Town but the back four were having none of it and aided by a couple of fine saves by Alex Buxton Town marched into the next round.

Newmarket maintained their one hundred percent start to the season with another good team performance. Aztecs struggled in the first half to get the ball away from Town, and with Town so dominant it was only a matter of time before they scored. The first goal came when Aztecs goalkeeper failed to hold onto an Alex Marshall corner, Town continued to push forward in the first half but just could not turn possession into more goals. After the break Aztecs looked a better side and made the Town defence work hard but Charlie Whitton and Dale May in the centre of defence soaked up the pressure and Town were soon attacking again. It was through one of these attacks that Tom Shiels ran at the Aztecs defence and unleashed a great left foot strike two make it two nil.
Into the last quarter of the game and Aztecs were throwing everything at Town and in one of these attacks Aztecs managed to scramble the ball into the Newmarket net, after the goal Town regrouped and once more took control of the match, Aztecs did manage some good counter attacks but some brave goalkeeping by Tom Howell thwarted them. Kyle Marshall was named man of the match.Town now have a rest from the league as next week they travel to Ely in the cup.

Newmarket had another tricky game this week against a Cottenham team that were two leagues higher last season. After a tense start Newmarket took the lead with a superb solo effort from the ever lively Alex Marshall, Cottenham then equalised with a well taken free kick from just outside the town penalty area, fortunately Town soon restored their lead when Alex Prigg latched on to a good through ball and left the keeper with no chance.
Cottenham started the second half well and after causing confusion in the Town goalmouth managed to level the scores once more. Town then managed to sort themselves out and looked the most likely to score again, although Newmarket left it quite late it was well worth it as man of the match Aiden Hall hit a superb strike past the diving Cottenham keeper. After that the result was never in doubt and Tom Porter rounded of the scoring with just about the last kick of a very entertaining match

Town had a tricky opening game of the season against a Sawston team that had just been relegated .Town had the better of the opening exchanges but failed to convert their chances and were made to pay for this as Sawston then worked two good free kicks to go two nil up. Newmarket started the fightback with their opening goal scored by Alex Marshall who worked nonstop down the right for the whole match. Alex Prigg then got the second just before half time.
After the break Town carried on with the good work with Alex Prigg securing the points with his second goal of the match, Newmarket continued to break down the Sawston defence but failed to find the back of the net, fortunately the town defence was on top of their game and Sawston didn`t trouble the Newmarket goal in the second half. New signing Kyle Marshall settled in well at left back and was named man of the match
