9/9/07 Our Sunday start has faltered a little, we started off with a tough trip to Woodbridge, we went a goal up through Ed Ranner, but relaxed a little too much and went in at half time 2 - 1 down. The boys battled well and equalised after 70 minutes through Andy Palmer, the boys were hanging on at the end of a long hot match and Woodbridge sneaked a winner in the last minutes.

16/9/07 The following week we entertained the Bury Football Academy at Laceys Lane. The boys battled well but Bury seemed just able to keep a two goal advantage, Dan McGinty scored both our goals in our four two defeat, although in the last five minutes two good chances were spurned which would have seen us draw.

23/9/07 We travelled to Chelmsford City, playing against the strong wind in the first half we went two nil down; just before half time we pulled a goal back through Luke Masterson. City restored their two goal advantage midway through the second half and try as they might, it was to be one of those days for Town and the score stayed at 3 -1.

30/9/07. At home to Wivenhoe Town injuries, illness and absences saw Town take the field with TEN men out of the squad of Twenty! To make matters worse during the warm up goalkeeper David Phillips sprained his wrist. After several ice packs and painkillers David took the field as it would have meant Town playing with only nine. Wivenhoe were a very physical and intimidatory team and were straight on the offensive. After a few early scares and wincing catches for Phillips, a good move saw Ed Ranner and Callum Hicks combine to play in Dan McGinty, he helped the ball forwards and Luke Masterson ran on to the ball and shot home from the edge of the area.

Town's lead only last a couple of minutes, Wivenhoe forced a corner which wasn't cleared, a touch of pinball in the area saw the ball tapped in at the far post. Wivenhoe pressed hard to go ahead but Stevn Banham and Ed Ranner at the heart of the defence stood firm. After weathering this onslaught Town started to play again, Dawson tackled well, Andrew Nunn collected the ball and pumped it forwards, Ben Cronin playing up top on his own chased and dribbled the ball away from two defenders before thundering home an unstoppable shot! Just before half time Town nearly went three one up, Banham had cleared well, Masterson picked up the second ball, travelled twenty yards before sending a cross field pass to Nunn, he turned inside his marker and crossed into the path of Charlie Robinson whose shot was excellently turned around the post. So it remained two one at half time.

The start of the second half saw Wivenhoe exert great pressure on Town after their manager's tongue lashing at half time. Town stood firm and soaked up this pressure Phillips catching well a couple of long ranged efforts. Fifteen minutes in a good move down Wivenhoe's right saw a good cross to the far post where it was headed home. Town wobbled a little but held on for the next ten minutes, then belief returned and McGinty and Hicks bossed the midfield battles. From a long Phillips punt up field Hicks chased the bouncy ball and had his shot cleared off the line. The match ended with Wivenhoe on the attack and man of the match Phillips diving full length to turn away a thunderous shot from 25 yards. All the boys played fantastically and thoroughly deserved to get at least a draw from the game.
